MapmyIndia and version 2.0 of 'Google Maps for mobile'

One of the India's leading navigable map data provider, has launched the MapmyIndia Navigator, state-of-the-art in-car GPS navigation device that promises to revolutionize the way people travel in India.

This portable satellite-connected GPS gadget is pre-loaded with comprehensive maps covering entire India and provides real time voice guided turn by turn navigation for seamless travel across the country, be it intra-city or inter-city (not a separate city map, and separate basic India map).

But MapmyIndia and as well as other such players will surely have to face the competion from  Google's ver 2.0 of 'Google Maps for mobile'.

This beta version of Google maps has a new technology called "My Location" that provides users with the approximate location, without the help of a GPS Enabled handset or GPS device. "My Location" technology is claimed to be faster than GPS and is being able to cover the inside of buildings unlike GPS.

This New technology will have a great impact on the sales of GPS enabled phones and devices in the near future. Google Maps for mobile with "My Location" can be downloaded by pointing one's mobile or desktop Web browser to www.google.com/gmm. The full range of mobile products/services available from Google is viewable at mobile.google.com.
